According to Gobineau (p. 202), Aziz Khan was "general-in-chief of the
troops of Adhirbayjan and then first aide-de-camp of the king. He was
passing through Zanjan, on his way to Tiflis, to congratulate the grand
duke, heir apparent of Russia, on the occasion of his arrival in
Caucasia."
